How to Setup your Pixel View PlayTV Pro
Changelog:
10/04/2003 - Added the DScaler guide and changed Win98 to Win98SE on first page
The Guide:
The PixelView built-in drivers are really awful, and leave a terrible impression about this TV/FM Board. But with a little effort and some open-source drivers and software, nothing (At least on this price) beats this card!
The driver I am going to be using on this guide (BtWinCap) is made for WDM capable OSs (Windows 98 SE, ME, 2000 and XP). If you use Windows 95, 98, 98SE or ME you can also use some VFW drivers available on the net. There's also an alternative for BtWinCap drivers, that you can find at the end of ATV2000 homepage. I fully recommend for this guide that you use a Windows 2000 or XP, capturing to an NTFS partition to avoid the FAT32 size limitation (4 Gb). 4 Gb may look like a lot of space, but believe me, for capturing it is not, and since VirtualVCR is not capable to overcome this i recommend that you stick with NTFS.
So, it's time to put this board up and running. You will need:
Original PixelView Drivers
VirtualVCR (for TV capture)
DScaler (for TV viewing with live deinterlace/telecide)
Radiator (for Radio Listening)
Girder (to use the remote)
1.) if you already tried BTWinCap with no success, you must remove it first, unpzip BTWINCAP install somewhere, run the installer and choose "Uninstall any previously installed driver". If haven't tried to do that, skip this step.
2.) Install the original BTWinCap Drivers

3.) After the instalation is complete, let the setup program reboot.
4.) When Windows finished loading, you'll see the screen below. It's a good idea to choose the right options, because then you can test the board with this (althrough sometimes it doesn't work with the right color system, even if choose right in this screen, or sometimes the sound doesn't work). Location can Be PAL-M for Brazil, NTSC for USA and Japan, and so on. Choose the audio Input Line-In, or you'll get no sound. And choose the right VGA card.

5.) Windows will show this dialog "Found
New Hardware". If that hasn't happened, go to device Manager,
and remove Multimedia Video Controler and Multimedia Controller. You can do
that by pushing DEL after selecting. Reboot after removing the devices.
6.) Choose "Install Software Automatically" and go ahead. Windows may say it has not passed Logo Testing Choose "Continue Anyway". It will happen 3 more times, and choose the same options.

7.) It's time to check if the board is at least working badly with this drivers. Open PixelViewStation TV. It will ask if you want to search for channels. Choose YES if you are going to use the internal turner. If you are goind to use a external decoder, like Cable or Sat, choose NO. If you get no sound, check if Line-in sound is mutted. If it still doesn't work, forget it, this drivers suck anyway. It's time for the new and beautiful BtWinCap. Unzip the driver instalaltion somewhere, run the installer and choose "Install this driver". Then click on accept (the license) to install. Choose the options according to the screenshot below. The TV Turner may not be the one in the screenshot if you don't live in Brazil, if this MK2 doesn't work, try other Philips models later. Check the box "Thsi board can natively turn FM Radio"! For now let's go on, click on next.
8.) No it's time to choose the country, choose the right one, because the it will choose the right color system for your country.
9.) Click on Finish to install the drivers. BTWinCap will remove the old drivers and devices, and let Windows detect everything again. Four devices will be detect now, but Windows will only find drivers for 2 of them , always complaining about the Logo testing. Never mind, choose "continue anyway" and go ahead. The other two devices detected but with no drivers will not be used for BTWinCap, it's functionallity is already in one of the two working devices. You have to disable them. When windows prompt for installation, choose "No, do not connect to the Internet" and go ahead. Before clicking on Finish, don't forget to mark the checkbox "Don't prompt again to install this software". Do this for both devices. These two devices will be shown on Device Manager as "Unknown Device". Never mind, it works like that.
10.) You can use the original TV viewing software, but it´s not a good idea. Better use DScaler and VirtualVCR. The PixelView Radio won't work anymore, but you can use many other great Radio softwares, like Radiator that I recommend. You also won´t be able to use the remote with the PixelView software, but who cares, with Girder you'll be able to Remote Control every application, even DScaler (TV), WinAMP, WinDVD...
On the next page you show how to setup VirtualVCR. If after doing the stuff on the next page you don't get a image, remove the BTWINCAP Drivers, do everything in this page again but choose another Philips TV Turner model. But if you know your board supports PAL-M color system, probabilly you messed things up on somewhere else, try doing everything again from the beggining.
